Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 6/13/21 - Fr. Carlson homily
The Gospel reading for today tells 2 parables - both dealing with being a patient farmer while watching crops grow. In the first parable, the farmer must wait for the harvest. In the second parable, we hear how the Kingdom of Heaven is like a very tiny mustard seed that grows and spreads!

Today we celebrate Pentecost. The Holy Spirit came not just for the apostles but for the whole world! This is a big deal. Our advocate is still with us - we just need to open our hearts and trust in Him.

Ascension of the Lord 5/16/21 - Fr. Carlson homily
This weekend we celebrate both the Ascension of the Lord AND the confirmation of our 10th graders. The Gospel reading from Mark 16 is really fitting for confirmation as Jesus tells His disciples to go out and proclaim the gospel to every creature. This is what we are called to do as Christians. Let us pray for the newly confirmed members of our church!

What a beautiful Gospel reading for Mother's Day! An acronym for JOY is Jesus, Ourselves, Others. The saints are great examples of living their lives this way - and in this order! St. Gianna Molla is a perfect example of a mother's love as we share her story on this Mother's Day.

The Fourth Sunday of Easter is also known as Good Shepherd Sunday. We hear from the readings about the Good Shepherd. The Church has also made this day the World Day of Prayer for Vocations which ties in perfectly as we think about how our priests/pastors lead us. Let us pray for all priests and religious!

What a beautiful second reading from 1 Jn 2:1-5a. The early Christians were being baptized and asking how they are supposed to live their lives. St. Paul reassures them that Jesus is their advocate who will give them grace. Please take a moment to reflect upon this reading and pray to let Him be present in your lives.

The Gospel reading for this Second Sunday of Easter is SO encouraging! The disciples were afraid and locked themselves in the upper room. *Do you ever feel afraid to go to God?
Jesus responds by saying, "Peace be with you..." He has infinite love and mercy for us. Let us not be afraid to go to Him.
